4 TIPS FOR TANGLE FREE HAIR

4 TIPS FOR TANGLE FREE HAIR

Frequently fighting tangles is a hassle, to say the least. Whether you’re trying to comb out snarls without breaking or damaging
your hair, or you’re trying to style your hair in hopes of preventing knots and tangles later, wouldn’t it be easier
to avoid them altogether?

Tangles happen when the cuticles of damaged hair strands open up and snag on one another. While the occasional tangle isn’t
anything to worry about, especially after a windy day or a day at the pool, having to brush out tangles on a regular
basis is a sign of a more serious problem. To keep hair soft, smooth, and tangle-free, follow these simple tips!

Hydrate Your Hair

Hair that is frequently knotted or tangled is often due to major dryness. When hair is healthy and hydrated, the cuticles
will remain smooth so they won’t catch on each other, leading to a nasty tangle. Make sure you use a
simple deep conditioner once a week to repair, heal, and replenish your hair. During the week, cut back on heat
styling or use a heat protectant, and use a hair cleanser and conditioner that adds moisture and protects your hair from damage.
This is especially important for curly hair! Not only is curly hair prone to dryness, but it’s also more likely to tangle, so curly hair that is also dry is a double whammy!

Ditch the Ponytail

Anytime damaged hair is subject to friction, tangles occur, and ponytails are a major cause of friction to your hair. The
constant rubbing against a hair elastic not only opens the cuticle, but causes the strands of hair to wind around the
elastic or rub against one another. If you have to wear your pulled back, consider a less damaging option than a hair
elastic. Scarves are a great option, plus they make a fun accessory, or you can try a braid which exposes less hair to
friction.

Cover Your Hair on Windy Days

Wind and sun dry out hair, and the wind has the added feature of whipping your hair around causing tangles, snarls, and knots
that seem nearly impossible to remove. If you’re going to be out and about on a breezy day, take a hat, scarf, or some
other accessory that will keep your smooth!

Try a Silk Pillowcase

If you wake up most mornings with a major case of tangled bed head, your pillowcase may be the culprit. Cotton pillowcases
are rough on your hair because they cause friction, which opens the cuticle, plus cotton pulls natural moisture and oil
out of your hair. This leads to static, breakage, dryness, and you guessed it, major tangles. Instead of sleeping on
a cotton or linen pillowcase, swap it out for a silk pillowcase. The silk fibers don’t catch your hair nor do they remove
moisture, so your hair stays smooth and healthy. If you prefer the cotton pillowcase, braid your hair before you go to
bed to reduce the damage. Plus, you’ll wake up with gorgeous waves!

I can’t state enough how the most important thing you can do for your hair is to use
hair cleansers and conditioners that nourish and hydrate your hair. That’s why I took extreme care to develop my
line of hair products to be free of sulfates, parabens, and other damaging additives,  and replace them with natural,
gentle ingredients! Enjoy hair that is soft, luxuriant, and, most importantly, healthy!
