Instead of spending half an hour each morning trying to get your hair to behave, wouldn’t you rather spend that time meditating,
doing yoga, or taking a brisk walk? Or let’s get real – getting 30 more minutes of sleep! Take back your morning with
these simple hacks that let you wake up with effortless, gorgeous hair!
Carefree Curls Without Heat Styling
Remember the sponge curlers from back in the day (do they still make those?)? It’s kind of the same idea, only more comfortable
to sleep on. And we’re using socks. No, I’m not joking, you can absolutely do this. Long, thinner socks are the easiest,
but use what you’ve got. Just make sure they’re clean (I’m assuming I didn’t have to add that in, but…)
Follow these simple steps:
- Cleanse your hair with an anti-frizz hair cleanser and follow up with an anti-frizz conditioner.
- Towel dry until still damp and gently comb to remove tangles.
- Split your hair into four sections (center part, then two sections on each side)
- Take the sock, wrap your hair around the center of it, roll your hair around it until it’s snug against your scalp (not too tight!).
- Knot the sock tightly
- Go to sleep
Â
In the morning, un-do the socks, shake out your hair, and you’ll have gorgeous waves and curls!
Spiral Curls for Long Hair
Instead of rolling your hair in socks, if you have thick or long hair, go to sleep with braids. While that’s probably no
surprise, instead of the standard two braids at the nape of your neck look for softer waves, we’re stepping it up a notch.
Follow these simple steps:
- Cleanse and condition – if your hair is thinner or fine, use a thickening formula!
- Spritz with a light texturizing spray, like Triple Sec 3-in-1 Spray by DryBar.
- Divide hair into a center part, then divide hair into three sections per side of part.
- French-braid each section snugly against the scalp.
- Go to sleep
In the morning, wake up, un-do the braids, and poof! Gorgeous, spiral-ly curls! Run your fingers through them to separate
and define them, then go on your way. Â (So easy!)
No Stress Natural Curls
Want to embrace your natural curls and free up your morning – easy!
Â
- Cleanse your hair and condition
- When hair is 100 percent dry, gather your curls at the top of your head
- Using a silk scarf, wrap it around the base of where you gathered your curls and tie it in a knot.
- Go to sleep.
When you wake up, you’ll have gorgeous, natural curls that look alive and vibrant and will stand out all day!
Here’s the important thing, the scarf needs to be silk – not cotton or a blend of fibers. Cotton pulls moisture from hair, leaving it prone to dryness and frizz, and once the strands are dry, they can catch on cotton fibers. Silk keeps your hair soft and hydrated, so make sure you use that.
Beachy Waves with a Bun
Perfect for nearly any hairstyle, relaxed beachy waves are simple to wake up to and take minimal effort on your part.
- Cleanse and condition – use anti-frizz if your hair is dry or naturally curly, and use a thickening cleanser and conditioner if your hair is fine.
- Towel dry until damp.
- Separate hair into two sections
- Starting at the bottom, twist your section snugly, all the way to your scalp
- Twist it into a bun and pin with bobby pins.
- Repeat for the other side
- Go to sleep
Wake up and take the twists down, again, run your hands through to separate your waves, and be amazed!
